THE 'RIVER LINE' WAS A LOW GRADE LINE BETWEEN CUBA, NY AND AND THE BUFFALO LINE AT RIVER JCT.THE RIVER LINE PERMITTED HEAVY TRAINS TO BYPASS THE HILLY SECTIONS ON THE OLD MAIN LINE BETWEEN HORNELL AND CUBA.  UNFORTUNATELY, THE GROUND UNDER THE RIVER LINE IS VERY UNSTABLE AND UNDOUBTEDLY HASTENED THE LINE'S DEMISE.

PA DUNCANNON E/B AT PASSENGER STATION.  THIS UNIT WAS TO GO TO THE NS AFTER THE CONRAIL BREAKUP, BUT IT WAS DIVERTED TO THE CSX POOL OF ENGINES INORDER TO REPLACE UNITS THAT CONRAIL WRECKED PRIOR TO THE BREAKUP DATE.  THEN ON 5-15-2001, THIS ENGINE LED A RUNAWAY TRAININ AN UNMANNED ADVENTURE FROM TOLEDO TO KENTON, OHIO.  AFTER 2 AND A HALF HOURS, IT WAS STOPPED WITHOUT HARM TO ANYONE.

PA KINZUA PARK THE FORMER ERIE RAILROAD's FAMOUS KINZUA VIADUCT, NOW ON THE KNOX AND KANE RAILROAD.  THE FIRST BRIDGE HERE WAS BUILT IN 1882, BY PHOENIX BRIDGE CO., AND THE CURRENT BRIDGE WAS BUILT IN 1900.  WHEN FIRST BUILT, THE KINZUA VIADUCT WAS THE LARGEST (I PRESUME THIS MEANS HIGHEST) RAILROAD BRIDGE IN THE WORLD.  THE VIADUCT STANDS ABOUT 301 FEET ABOVE THE KINZUA CREEK.

PA KINZUA PARK KNOX AND KANE RAILROAD TRAIN CROSSES THE FORMER ERIE RR's KINZUA VIADUCT.  THIS VIADUCT IS SIMILAR TO OTHER FAMOUS ERIE VIADUCTS, SUCH AS THE MOODNA AND BELFAST VIADUCTS, BUT THIS IS A FAR TALLER STRUCTURE, AT 301 FEET IN HEIGHT.  SADLY, THIS AGING STRUCTURE WAS BLOWN DOWN IN A STRONG WIND STORM IN JULY 2003.

THE GRAVEL ROAD WITH CATENARY TOWERS WAS THE CLEVELAND UNION TERMINAL RIGHT OF WAY.  THE WHITE BALLASTED TRACK ON THE LOWER LEFT IS THE 'RAPID TRANSIT' LINE.
